1. Brief Description

 

A recuperative furnace is an industrial furnace that utilizes a heat exchanger to preheat combustion air, improving energy efficiency and reducing fuel consumption.

 

The high-efficiency regenerative combustion system of a regenerative heating furnace mainly consists of a regenerative burner and a reversing system. It is divided into three main parts: preheating section, heating section, and homogenization section. The principle is to use a heat storage chamber to pre store all the heat, achieving the effect of recovering the humidity and heat of the temperature regulating flue gas to a large extent and increasing the temperature of the combustion air.

 

Function and Design

 

A recuperative furnace operates by using a recuperator, which is a type of heat exchanger that extracts heat from the exhaust gases of the furnace. This heat is then used to preheat the incoming combustion air. The main components include:

 

Heat Exchanger: The recuperator typically consists of two concentric pipes; hot flue gases pass through the outer pipe while cold air flows through the inner pipe, allowing heat transfer without mixing the two streams.

 

Combustion System: The preheated air is then mixed with fuel in the burner, resulting in a more efficient combustion process that can reach higher temperature.

3. Furnace structure

 

  • Melting section

It is the part which melts batched materials and Clearing and homogenizes glass liquid. In the upper space of the melting section is referred to as the flame space, the lower part is melting tank.

 

  • Dog house

Batched materials feed into the furnace through dog house, the heat is transferred via flame space to the glass liquid.

 

  • Air, gas access

The heated air and gas flow into the pre-combustion room for mixing via this access after they flow out of the regenerator. 

 

4. Furnace melting technology system

 

Reasonable melting technology is a system which could ensure a normal daily production. It will have an important function for high production, high quality, low consumption and life span of furnace.

 

Furnace melting technology includes temperature, pressure, bubbling, glass liquid level, fuel, reversing system etc.

 

The temperature means the temperature the of melting tank, not the whole furnace. The distribution of temperature is from the melting tank through the length of the furnace.

 

Normal temperature measuring points:

  • Temperature of port leg
  • Temperature of breast wall
  • Temperature of flame
  • Temperature of glass liquid

The temperature must be strictly controlled, it affects the glass melting speed, glass liquid convection situation, glass forming condition, fuel combustion, furnace campaign, etc.

 

If the furnace is in a negative pressure situation, the cold air will be absorbed into the flame space and change the internal state of furnace, reduce the temperature and increase the energy consumption, even more, the internal temperature of the furnace will not distribute homogeneously. However, the pressure of the furnace cannot exceed the standard, if the pressure is too big, it will increase the energy consumption, shorten the life span of furnace, and the clearing and cooling of glass liquid will be affected.
