1. Brief introduction

 

Glass is a special amorphous inorganic nonmetallic material. The main component is silicate, a non-crystalline solid with an irregular structure.

 

With a good chemical stability and excellent artistry, the glass container has become one of the most popular packing materials. It is also extensively applied in food and beverage industries, which has occupied an important position in the market that cannot be ignored.

 

Glass melting is the most important process in glass production, it is a forming process where the batched materials form a qualified liquid evenly with no bubbles under high temperature heating.

 

 

2. Types of container glass classification

3. Physicochemical changes in each glass melting stage:
 
  • Silicate forming
In this stage, the components of batched materials will produce a physicochemical solid phase reaction during heating process, in which the gaseous products will be released from the batched materials and produce a new opacity sinter ultimately, which is formed by silicate and SiO2.

 

  • Glass liquid forming
In this stage, the sinter will be melting and the silicate and SiO2 in sinter will change to flint glass liquid with a plenty of bubbles. However, its chemical components and character are not even.
 
  • Clearing
The glass liquid is continuously heated, and its viscosity is reduced with plenty of gaseous sundries released, which should eliminate the visible bubbles with the pool of liquid.
 
  • Homogenization
 
Glass melting is a very complex process, it includes physical, chemical and physicochemical phenomena and reaction. These phenomena and reaction lead the mechanical mixed raw materials to complex melting glass liquid.
 
It is the part which melts batched materials and clearing and homogenizes glass liquid. In the upper space of the melting section is referred to as the flame space, the lower part is melting tank. The flame comes from the burner through the port, which feds in preheated air to increase the flame effiency.
 

 

4. Main equipment of glass forming

 

  • Gob Feeder / Serve Gob Feeder

Shear angle:adjustable between RH30°- LH 90°

  • I.S. machine

I.S. machine is a standard production equipment of glass making, it has various of gobs and sections, which could suitable for all kinds of combustion types and different specifications of annealing lehr.
The higher precision machining and assembly process ensure the stability and reliability of I.S. machine.

 

 

  • Press machine

Use continue cam in different section.
Pneumatic mold clamping, usually use 5 bar compressor air for stronger clamping the mold.
Scoop control by air cylinder, reject glass.
Electric valve and regulator use SMC.
Delivery system can adjust gob position, when produce different section mode.

 

  • Transfer ware

Transfer ware is designed for conveying the glass product from I.S.machine or press machine to cross conveyor in front of the annealing lehr quickly and stably, which is especially applicable to high-speed glass production line.

 

  • Cross Conveyor

Cross conveyor is installed in front of annealing lehr for cross conveying the glass product and works with stacker to push them into annealing lehr.

 

  • Stacker

Stacker is used for pushing the glass product from the cross conveyor into annealing lehr. Pushing speed is adjusted by inverter, quantity of pushing numbers is controlled by digital counters.
 

 

  • Annealing lehr

Annealing lehr can be continuous annealing of tableware, bottles, cans, and other glass products.
