End-Fired Furnace (is also called as End-Port Furnace or Horseshoe-Fired Furnace) is an industrial thermal processing unit where combustion burners are positioned at one or both ends of the furnace chamber. The hot gas flow from combustion moves along the furnace direction, transferring heat through a glass melting furnace designed with longitudinally arranged combustion ports and a U-shaped flame path.
The end fired furnace has a small flame coverage area, the flame reversing brings periodic temperature fluctuation and hot spot movement.
In addition, the number of port limits the furnace width and furnace scale. End fired furnace is suitable for making all kinds of hollow products (bottles, jars, vessels, chemical instruments, bubble shells, glass tubes, etc.), pressing products and glass balls without special requirement on the quality of glass.
Its typical melting capacity is 30 – 500 t/d, in some cases up to 700 t/d can be achieved. Limitations in furnace size result from flame length and crown span width, especially of the burner ports.
